Not Another Bill!: July 2014

2014-07-17 10.40.55

This is my second month of receiving Not Another Bill! Last month I received a beautiful frame and print, and it was gorgeous. After that injection of beauty into my home, I couldn’t wait for my next parcel. This really shows the diversity of N.A.B, as last month was something to decorate my walls, this month is something to decorate my neck!

Studio Fludd is an exciting Italian art collective, taking its name from the English scientist Robert Fludd. This guy is a pretty interesting occultist, working on controversial topics in the 16th – 17th century. Their inspiration is alchemy, manipulating matter and material.

So, this month’s surprise is a multi-faceted Botswana agate stone on a neon thread with a pastel fastening. It came  wrapped in crepe paper inside a pinky screen-printed origami envelope. Not only is the necklace gorgeous, but the packaging is delightful. Opening it really gave me that internal squee feeling of being involved in the pretty!

I’ve worn this basically every day with every outfit imaginable. Lovely jubbly!

At £18 a month, it’s a bit of a pricey subscription, and I don’t think I’d be comfortable spending that much money monthly on a surprise if I wasn’t so convinced of the quality. N.A.B. is deeply concerned with providing the best of the best, though, so I’m quite a happy little subscriber!

What do you guys think? Do you have a subscription or are you tempted to get one? Leave me a comment!! xx

Birchbox July 2014: Sun, Sea and Sand!

2014-07-13 10.33.00

July already! How did that happen? The summer is just flying by! This month’s Birchbox has a lovely summery vibe, and contains some fantastic products that are already climbing rapidly in my summer top ten! The title of the box is ‘sun, sea and sand,’ which I have been forunate to get a bit of, living on the coast. I, however, have been referring to it as the purple favourite colour alert! box, as there are plenty of lovely violet based tones going on in there.

Models Own: Nail polish in Magenta Divine ~ £5

I am not going to post a picture of my nails wearing this as I would normally because my nails are super unhappy at the moment, and I think a glitter varnish would kill them. However, I think this would make a lovely glittery topcoat, and I can see myself wearing it a lot on my toes. I did test it on my thumb nail, and it spread nice and easily, so no silly glittery clumps to battle against.

Balance Me: Wonder Eye Cream ~ £20 for 15ml

I was very pleased when I heard this was a featured item, as I got a Balance Me face cream as a magazine freebie, and have enjoyed using it. The eye cream is refreshing and easily absorbed. I haven’t noticed much of a difference to my eye area, but that’s not unusual for me. However, I find that even if it’s not visible, it feels good, so I’m sure I’ll use it a fair bit!

Laqa & Co.: Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Menatour ~ £14

2014-07-13 10.33.42

I love love love this pencil! I’ve been on the hunt for a good purple for such a long time and this is my perfect product. The colour seems to really suit my complexion, and there is a nice gloss to it on the lip. I know I will wear this nearly everyday. It is quite hydrating, and although it doesn’t have major staying-power, it lasts pretty well. Unfortunately it seems to be sold out online, but hopefully it will reappear when I need to replace it!

Benefit: The Porefessional ~ £24.50

I love me some Benefit! I have a bit of a haul I need to post in the next week or so, so I was super excited to open my box and see this! I have heard such great things about this product, but have never considered buying it as my pores aren’t that much of a problem for me. I have been wearing it anyway, as it is a super balm that really melts into the skin and gives it a radiance that means that I feel like I can go without foundation on those days we’ve had recently that have just been too hot. I’m a melter! Therefore I’m thrilled that Birchbox enabled me to encounter the porefessional and to discover how awesome it is!

Whish: Three Whishes Lavender Body Butter ~ £14.50

This is a very light-weight lotion that smooths very easily into the body, feeling very hydrating and with a gentle, more of a hint, of lavender scent. So far this product seems to only be available from Birchbox so that’s quite exciting in itself, n’est pas?

Filosofile: 4-sided Nail Buffer

Onto the French! Take a look at these guys’ website! Lots of cute little things which raise a smile! I’ve not actually used this buffer yet, but I’ve needed a new one for ages, so good timing, Birchbox!

Lovely box! A good mix of goodies to play with and to feel fabulous with. The only sad part is I now can’t wait for August! Oh well, patience is a virtue, after all…

How was your box this month? Are you ready for some fun in the some? Leave a comment and let me know!! xx

Vaseline: Spray & Go Body Moisturiser

2014-05-19 20.18.38

Cocoa Radiant ~ £4.99

Hi guys! So, I know I’m a little late to the party on this one, it’s been on the market nearly a year?, but I’d seen a few reviews of Vaseline’s Spray & Go popping up recently, and was intrigued to give it a whirl. I can be pretty lazy when it comes to moisturising, especially  as I don’t really like getting my hands covered in lotion and making everything I touch greasy! I also have a tendency to skip my moisturiser if I’m in a rush, and then really regret it later in the day! Therefore this seemed like the perfect product for my minimal effort and mess approach.

It is really easy to use, and if you move quickly the layer of lotion is light enough that it doesn’t even need rubbing into the skin. Of course, if you hold the canister steady, you can build up the amount of product anywhere that you feel needs some extra attention. I really enjoyed the cooling sensation of spraying this onto my skin, particularly my back, as it made it feel a bit tingly! It’s also great for making sure you get even coverage. I tend to whack a load of product on my palms and just rub it over my body until it’s gone, which I’m sure is much less efficient. It has a nice light feeling, not greasy at all, which my skin has no trouble absorbing.

My skin certainly feels soft and smooth, but I don’t think I’ve been using this product long enough to say whether it’s had any lasting beneficial effect. Novel as the delivery is, I can’t really see it being substantially better than any other moisturiser, well-applied.

I bought the Cocoa version of this product really because it was the only one my local store carried, but I’m glad I did because the smell is absolutely divine whilst being pleasingly subtle. I don’t know whether it’s just me associating different products, but it really reminds me of the flavouring of the Cocoa lipbalm Vaseline do.

I would definitely buy this product again, as it’s a reasonable price and makes moisturising that much quicker and easier. I don’t think I’d use this as my only moisturiser, – I like to indulge every now and again! –  but for those busy mornings it means my skin still gets its fix without making me late.

Have you tried Vaseline’s Spray & Go? Are the other scents as nice? Do leave me a comment and let me know!! xx

GlossyBox May 2014: Fifty Years of Superdrug!

Image  After a shaky few months at GlossyBox, May seemed to be a month to look forward to, with the promise of an exciting collaboration and plenty of full-sized goodies! I’m writing this after reading various other blogs, and I have to say, some of the boxes do look fantastic! Mine wasn’t on the great side of things really, but here goes!

As ever, the GlossyBox packaging is really gorgeous. I love this light, colourful theme, though I did like the teaser illustrations they released on Facebook quite a bit more. How cute would a box with little birds on it be!?? I liked seeing Lucy Mecklenburgh on the cover of the magazine, as I do have a bit of a TOWIE obsession, and think she’s absolutely gorgeous! On to the important stuff!

Superdrug: Large Doughnut Ring ~ £3.99 (Though actually on sale at the moment)

Never used one of these before. Don’t think that sort of style really suits me, thought I will give it a go! It’s my colour, but don’t think I’ll get that much use out of it. I will apologise profusely if I fall in love with it!

I Love Cosmetics: Strawberries and Milkshake Shimmer & Shine ~ £1.29 – 15ml

So that’s my attempt at a swatch. I had to build up a lot of gloop on my arm even before the camera would pick it up! I hate this. Actually hate. There is almost no colour, a tiny bit of shimmer, and it’s super sticky. The worst part? Cheap plasticy smell and taste. It felt like I was literally putting poison onto my body. Ew.

Solait: Illuminating Facial Bronzing Cream ~ £2.99 – 100ml

Now, feel free to call me a snob, but my first reaction was – £2.99!? This can’t possibly work! I’m not really into facial bronzers, and I’m not intending to try it out until I don’t have to be in work the next day… Just in case! I will let you know if it  actually turns out to be a miracle potion.

L’Oreal Paris: Volume Million Lashes Black ~ £10.99

2014-05-16 21.45.26

I have a feeling that this is supposed to be the product that makes up for the kinda poor showing I’ve had so far. I have so many mascaras at the moment it’s going to take me a while to get round to this one. It’s not something I would pick up myself, so I’m interested to see what it’ll be like.

B.: Quick One Coat Professional Finish Nail Polish in ‘Precious’ ~ £4.99 – 8ml

2014-05-16 20.43.11

I was originally skeptical about this polish, but I’ve been wearing it for a few hours now, and it’s really grown on me. The colour is lovely (I’m wearing just one coat, as per instruction!, in the photos above), the coverage is great, one coat dries fairly quickly, and I’ve yet to see how much it can withstand! I can feel this becoming something I’ll use regularly, particularly to add a wee accent to a pastel manicure . I think the colour is supposed to be bronze, but I’m in fairly soft lighting at the moment, and it’s a lovely rose gold.

Sample! Garnier: Oil Beauty Lotion ~ £4.99 – 250ml

Body lotions are something I receive quite a lot of, so initially I wasn’t too excited by this. Then I read that it’s infused with argan, almond, rose and macadamia oil, something with which I’ve become a little bit obsessed with as of late, so this seems perfect! The smell is absolutely gorgeous! I used it a few hours ago, and I can still smell it on me, which is great! I would definitely not wear a perfume over this scent if I were just out and about! It applied beautifully, with a very light, non-greasy feel, and seems to have a slight shimmer? If I ever manage to run out of lotion I would definitely buy this – heck, I might even just go out and get some anyway!

Sample! GHOST Fragrances: Eclipse ~ £33 – 50ml

This perfume has quite a citrusy-fruity head, and a lovely musky amber base. I would say it’s quite a mature scent, and I do quite like it. I think I’d be quite happy to receive this as a present, though I never usually buy perfume for myself.

Well, that’s that! To be honest, I was fairly disappointed with this box. I expected a few more exciting products than something I could just wander into a shop and buy off the shelves. I think I might give GlossyBox one more month before I cancel. There were a few good products in here, but I’m really not happy to spend so much money on things I’ll never use. Oh well!

How did you find your GlossyBox? Did you receive anything different? I’d love to know! Leave a comment! xx
